Juice!
Wednesday, February 1st, 2006A friend of mine has recently moved himself and his whole family (wife & 3 kids) to Israel. Among the odd items that he left with me was his juicer.
I have wanted a juicer for a long time.
I had done some research a couple of years ago, and come to the realization that there are ‘good’ juicers and there are ‘bad’ juicers. If I wanted a ‘good’ juicer I was gonna have to shell out a couple of hundred dollars. No way Jose.
Now I had a juicer of my own! - and it weighed a ton, so I figured it was a ‘good’ one. It had no name on it, so I couldn’t even Google it to see if it was ‘good’ or ‘bad’.
I was contemplating using it for a few weeks, when this past wekend I got the flu. I felt like crap: my throat was scratchy, my sinuses were blocked and my nose was running the Boston marathon. Time to make juice and get healthy!
We went to the market and got some fresh veggies and fuits.
Once back home, we decided to make fruit juice:
We chopped up some guava, pineapple, strawberries, blackberries, and bananas.

Then we realized that the juicer is not the ideal machine for this job - so we got out my parents vintage ‘Osterizer’ blender. We did not want to throw out any pulp -that’s for carrots and other fibrous foods…the juicer will have to wait until next time. . .
We started out with some orange juice:
and blended
then we added some fresh, thick, Lebanese yogurt from Adonis (but that’s another story)

Perfect!
So, folks, go get some fruit and get out your blender - don’t be shy - use any fruits, yogurt, juice, water, nuts, seeds, soymilk, etc!
Also - once we were done, we chopped up the rest of the fruits and packed them in tupperwares and froze them for future juice experiences.
Here are 2 shots of the final, and very tasty, product:
